BOOKS: Good Reads (in my opinion, anyway)

These are not listed in any sort of order whatsoever except for the books grouped by series or trilogy. Most of my books are Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but there are a couple of Realistic Fictions in there, too. I have noted what genre they are before the book title and have a key for the genres at the bottom. Happy reading! =]

S........The Adoration of Jenna Fox

S........the Artemis Fowl series (the first being my favorite)

RF.....Notes from the Midnight Driver

F........the Harry Potter series

F........Twilight
F........New Moon
F........Eclipse
NOT Breaking Dawn

S........The Host

F........Goose Girl
F........Enna Burning (it's about the main character from Goose Girl's best friend; my favorite out
of the three Goose Girl . . . I guess you'd call it a trilogy)
F........River Secrets (my least favorite of the Goose Girl trilogy, but that doesn't mean it's not
good. Plus, if you read the other two, I don't if you'll be able to resist more Shannon Hale brilliance)

RF.....Austenland (this book's the reason I read Pride and Prejudice)

F........Eragon (along with its sequals, but so far I have enjoyed Eragon the most. I am still in the process of reading Brisinger, though, so my opinion might soon waver)

S........Uglies
S........Pretties
S........Specials (my favorite in the series)

*........The Hunger Games (MUST READ)

RF.....Pride and Prejudice

F........Gregor the Overlander

F........the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (the third book--The Titan's Curse--was my favorite)

RF.....Airman (well, I still need to finish it. It had to be turned into the library when I was a bit
past the middle of it)

F........The Wishlist

F........Everlost

and the two novels that I'm writing. Whose own book wouldn't be one of their favorites?

Key

S........Sci-Fi
F........Fantasy
RF.....Realistic Fiction
*........A mix of S, F, and FRF (Futeristic Realist Fiction--and, yes, that's possible)

Life Update

I don't really have much to talk about. I guess that's why I haven't posted in . . . like . . . a trillion years. Gosh, it's been forever. Hey, did you see Alice Cullen to the right of my page? =]

I was in a play this summer. It was a very condensed version of Alice in Wonderland, and we put it together in FIVE DAYS. It was really fun. ^^ I got to be Alice. I liked that a lot, but the wig itched, and, let me tell you, tights on stage is not fun. Lolz.

So, it's only eight days 'till my birthday if you don't include today. Fun, fun, fun! Mom asked what I wanted for my birthday, and I didn't respond immediately. It took me a few minutes before I finally said, "Chocolate." Those little Caramel Hershey's Kisses are amazingly awesome. Yum! =]

I suppose you're wondering what happened with the whole interview paper thing. Mr. Brooks told me he didn't get it. Yeah. What's to get?

I found out in Choir (Well, it's actually Chorale if you want to get all technical. I have the "advanced" choir. Though, many of the people in there don't really seem like they care about it at all. Isn't that why you sign up for the advanced choir? Because you care and want to learn and take steps to improve yourself? Gah.) that there is going to be a solo in our first concert (the Fall Concert). Unfortunately, Mrs. Sard (Choir teacher) has decided that she would rather hold the auditions the day of the concert instead of a few weeks ahead of time. I do not see how that will help the poor soloist in any way, shape, or form. Shouldn't she be able to get used to singing in front of everyone instead of just shoving her onto the stage after a couple of rehersals and saying, "Okay, this is what no one trained you for." Jeez.

I'm so positive, aren't I?

I've been doing a ton of writing whenever I can lately. I haven't actually gotten to be on my laptop much on school days (Darn homework!), so when I get the chance to write, I take advantage of it. Things have been hitting me like crazy as of late, and I keep having to jot down little ideas on my arm during the middle of school. Not the most efficient way to do things, but it will have to suffice until they decide to let us bring laptops to school and ignore the teacher.

A little laugh for you:
...................................................
Oh, the irony.

I was laying in bed working on my Meez when a random thought struck me. What color eyes does Alice Cullen have? I went on Google and looked it up, making sure to clarify that I meant Alice in the books. I typed it up and hit Enter on my laptop, and in no time at all I had Results 1 - 10 of about 2,030,000 for what color eyes does alice cullen have in the book. (0.13 seconds) pulled up. I began to scroll down the page, skimming the titles of links and the mini-descriptions. The second link's title and description were this:

WikiAnswers - What is the color of edward cullen's eyesTwilight Book Series question: What is the color of edward cullen's eyes? ... What color of eye has Edward Cullen? What color is alice cullen's porsche ... What color eyes does Edward Cullen have? What color eyes does Edward Cellon have ...wiki.answers.com/.../What_is_the_color_of_edward_cullen's_eyes - Cached - Similar -Show more results from wiki.answers.com

As I read it, I automatically thought, Well, that's a dumb question. Everyone know's Edward's eyes are gold. And then it struck me. So are Alice's. Like I said, people do stupid things sometimes.

If you vote for me, all of your wildest dreams will come true.

Teasing Teachers: Interview

Hey everyone! Last Friday, my sixth grade Social Studies teacher, Mr. Brooks, asked me if I was going to an interview (???), so I typed up a fake newspaper article from the fictional New Dork Times. (Get it? Haha! I made a funny.) I'm going to past copies up around his classroom tomorrow. Just for fun.

...................................................

THE NEW DORK TIMES

Interview with Sydney Herndon
13-YEAR-OLD writing prodigy, Sydney Herndon, was interviewed last Friday about what it is like to be an author. The teen was asked about her current work, and she responded by saying, “I spend a lot of time on my books. I am writing two presently, and they are both novels. When you work really hard on some-thing, it sort of becomes like a child to you; you get overprotective. I have been known to push everything else aside to work on my books.” The interviewer asked where she gets the inspiration for her manuscripts. “I get hundreds of ideas for books in a single week. It’s the really good ones I write down, and if I really like the notion, I just keep it in my head and work on it there.” When asked if she could give us some bits from her existing novels, Herndon says, “I’m afraid not. I want the second book to be a surprise altogether, and the first one, too, though not quite as surprising as the second. But I can give a vague summary of the first book, Made of Silver.”

And then I attatched the Made of Silver summary--which you can read farther down the page if you haven't already--and a little picture of my head. This one in fact:

Tada!

Oh, yeah, I can't believe I forgot to tell you this...wait...what was I going to tell you...I know it was something...something important........
I MADE IT!!!!!!!! I'm in Dinner Theatre! I'm one of FOURTEEN people who made it! I MADE IT! I MADE IT! I MAAAAAADE IIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So come see me perform. And that's an order! Over and out.

Summary

I read my new favorite book, Artemis Fowl, and the rest of the series, a few weeks ago. In the book there is a made-up language, which I can now read. Anyway, as a plan to get people to read it, I have typed up a summary of my most recent book--yes, I started another one--for you to read...but it's in that language. No, I won't tell you. Then you could just look it up. Get the book and find out the old fashioned way. I'm so evil...MUAHAHAHA!

Have fun falling victim to my devious scheme!

Auditions

AAAAH! I'm auditioning early tomorrow morning for a chance to sing in dinner theatre. Dinner theatre is where you buy tickets to come eat and watch people perform, and in my class's case, sing. I'm going to sing Nobody's Home by Avril Lavigne, and after that I'm going to pray that my teacher likes it. =) So, like I said before I did Honor Choir, wish me luck! Or, maybe this time you shouldn't....

Funny E-mail

Only in America

.....do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

.....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

.....do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

.....do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

.....do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

.....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER ...

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Internetalopians

I - having a wild, and extremely random, imagination - just came up with an imaginary creatuer called Internetalopian.
Internetalopians are little... ah, computer bugs if you will. They travel through the inernet and get on people's computers, eating up the things on your computer that you don't save - things like, for instance, a word document you begin to type, but decide you don't like, so you go to FILE and click NEW and don't save it.
The Internetalopians are harmless computer-bugs that don't speak except in little titters and ticks. Almost like they have their very own version of the Morse Code.
Sometimes, if you're quick and very lucky, you might just spot one chomping on a file or setting up camp on your hard-drive.

This one is Internetalopian Fiona, and she likes to dance.

See...? Well, go on, press play, already!

Reading and Writing

I love to write. And apparently I'm really good at it, according to my friends and family.Things pop into my head and I write them down and turn them into a story. But this talent dosen't always come in handy. I once was at my friend's house (she lives two houses down from me) when suddenly I said, "I have to go home!" I was about to jump out of my seat and sprint home as fast as my legs would carry me. I had to write something down for the book I'm writing, Made of Silver. My friend asked what was wrong and I told her I had to write something for my book. She knows how I am about my book (It's almost like a child to me!), so she wasn't that suprised. Handing me the nearest notebook and pen, she told me, "Use this." Within 3 minutes I had 2 and a half pages written. I wasn't about to let myself forget what I'd thought of.I really get in tune with the characters in the books I'm reading. In 3rd grade I was reading one of the Harry Potters when I thought, "I have to tell Mom how mean Draco Mafoy is being to me!" I know. I'm a nut. But if you think THAT'S bad, get a load of this:I was talking to my little brother about the book I'm writing. He got thirsty, but I guess he didn't want to get a cup because he walked into the bathroom to drink from the sink. I followed, still jabbering away. Then I looked in the mirror and panicked. I hadn't expected to see my reflection - I had expected to see the main character in my book, Ginny!

My Book Summary

I wrote the summary for the book I'm writing a while ago, and Mom suggested I post it here. So... here it is!
Made of Silver

Everything is what it seems - or is it? Summer camp will be summer camp, friends will be friends, and woods will be... a passageway to some other realm? Wait, this just got a whole lot more complicated.
When Ginny shows up at summer camp, surprised that she and her two best friends, Tim and Joseph, won't interact all summer, she devises a plan... a plan that plunges her into a world of danger, imprisonment, and someone who will change her life. Will she ever be the same?
